Dear Arihant,
Today is Father’s Day. You are just 1 year and 8 months old, so you may not yet understand what “Father” or “Father’s Day” truly means. But you already know how important a father is. Every time I say “hajur,” you reply with “Baba.” These words feel like music to my heart, and I never get tired of hearing them.
Parenthood is not always easy. It brings sleepless nights, changes in routine, and sometimes little destructions (yes, you love breaking things at home!). But even in all this chaos, I find so much joy. This is the beauty of nature’s design, it feels perfect in its own way.
On this Father’s Day, I want to share a few thoughts with you. One day, when you are older, you will be able to read and understand them:
Remember that Effort matters more than results. We cannot control the outcome, but we can control our effort. Choose wisely where you put your energy, how long you keep trying, and what you focus on. Don’t run the rat race. Life will always push you to be first, but remember, even the first rat is still a rat. You don’t have to be first to be excellent. Focus on being your best, not on competing with others.
Life has both joy and hardship. It is foolish to look only for happiness. Accept that life has both good and difficult moments. That acceptance is the most positive way to live. Feelings are not in your control, but actions are. You may feel sad, angry, or happy without choosing it. But you can choose your actions and thoughts. Accept your feelings, learn from them, and then move forward.
Arihant, know that we all have shadows. As humans, we carry feelings like jealousy, anger, or fear. Don’t deny them, understand them. Try to lessen their power over you, but don’t let them come between you and the people you love.
Son, you are my joy and my strength. I look forward to the day when you are old enough to read this letter and understand the love, lessons, and wishes I have written for you.
With all my love,
Baba
PS: This letter is written to his son by Dr Kishor Adhikari. His son, Arihant is 20 Months old son.
The most pure relationship is the relationship between a father and a daughter but when i understood that it was too late. I miss him alot. Daddy used to say the same things to me it was never important then but now i feel how much that means.
Daddy I know I couldn’t give you anything when you were here but i am trying my best to be the person you have always wanted me to become. Love you daddy and miss you alot…🙂
A very heart warming letter sir. Hope all fathers know that they are very loved and they matter a lot.
Happy Father's Day to all fathers.
